Heavy Rains Damage Bridges, Hydro Power Project in Doda Region

Doda July 28: Heavy rains in Doda district last night caused flash floods son Wednesday causing widespread damage in the area.

Locals told CNS that heavy rains have caused severe damage to crops and fruits in the district while in Bhalissa, Bonjwah, Kahra and several areas of Thathri.

They added that rainwater has accumulated in the premises inside the residential houses and many temporary bridges have been washed away and many drinking water schemes have been damaged by the floods.

Hundreds of families in the town of Thathri have been evacuated due to rising water levels in the river Chenab. The administration has appealed the people to be careful and avoid going near the water bodies.

According to reports, bridges in Saranga-Naga and in Bonjwah area have also been washed away by floods while 14 MW Chaudhry Power Project Dondi has also been partially damaged due to which power supply in dozens of villages has been affected. (CNS)
