Bear Attacks Wildlife Deptt Shooter in South Kashmir’s Shopian

Earlier Inured an Old Man in early Morning Attack

Shopian CNS, Aug 05: The wild bear attacked and injured a wildlife shooter on Thursday in Chetterwach area of South Kashmir.

According to the locals, it is the second attack during the last two hours in the same area as earlier wild bear had attacked and injured an old man.

Sources told CNS that earlier during the morning hours the bear had injured a 50-year-old man, identified as Nazir Ahmad Sheikh son of Khazir Mohammed Sheikh in an orchard near Chetterwach area.

Sources in the wildlife department told CNS that teams of wildlife were tracking the wild bear in the orchards of Chetterwach and Kadgam during which the bear attacked their shooter and injured him.

The injured was identified as Irfan Ahmad and has been rushed to district hospital Shopian for treatment.

It is pertinent to mention that the Man-Animal conflict has increased during the past few months as wild animals have started moving towards the essential areas in search of food. (CNS)
