Budgam Police Recovers 103 Kgs of Poppy-straw from 3 Notorious Drug-peddlers; Case Filed, Investigations Initiated

Budgam, Aug 7: Budgam police on Saturday claimed to have recovered one hundred and three kilograms of poppy-straw from three alleged notorious drug-peddlers during a naka checking at Sholipora area.

In a statement issued to GNS, a police spokesperson said that, during naka checking at Sholipora Budgam, a police party of police station Budgam intercepted one vehicle Mahindra Maxi Truck bearing registration number JK05J-7919 with three persons onboard.

The police party, as per the statement, signaled the trio to stop, however instead of stopping the vehicle they tried to escape from the spot, following which a police party chased them and overpowered the vehicle driver.

During search of the said vehicle 103 Kgs of Poppy-straw (Fukki) like substance was recovered from modified hidden chambers lying in the base of the body of the vehicle, it reads.

Identifying the accused trio as, Mohammad Sultan Bhat son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat, Abdul Hameed Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar residents of Sholipora Budgam and Ghulam Nabi Dar son of Mohammad Shafi Dar, resident of Gulistan Baramulla, it further reads that a case FIR number 241/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation taken up.
