Free flour for distribution disappears from store in North Kashmir
At a time when Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCSCA) is bragging about delivering ration and other stuff on the door steps of the consumers, the same department doesn’t hesitate to loot and befool naïve people whenever it gets an opportunity.
For ward number 4 to 6, in Devar Lolab area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, 45 floor bags were dispatched for free distribution among poor people. In absence of any accountability, all the 45 bags disappeared in the middle of the night from the store.
People said some bags were given to influential families, while rest of the bags were hidden in the Store.
The poor people from these wards stage repeated protests but nobody listen to them.
The locals told News Agency KNT that store-keeper Ehsan-ul-Haq resorted to dilly-dally tactics and bought time to avoid them when they demanded floor. “The Store-Keeper didn’t distribute any floor among people, though the floor kept hidden was still in Store. Ironically, he was transferred after 4 days. Another Store-Keeper Gowhar Ahmed Khan assumed charge and promised people that he will provide them floor meant for them.”
On the request of people, KNT called this new store-keeper who denied the claims made by people that there is floor in the store. “There is no floor in the store,” the new store keeper said.
The matter was brought into the notice of Assistant Director Mudasir Ahmed who promised inquiry and action against the culprits. “Over a week has passed; the concerned AD has done nothing in this regard. There is no inquiry and there is no action against the corrupt employees,” locals said.
They said that Store-Keeper Ehsan-ul-Haq, a resident of Takipora has exploited them from time to time, but never any action against him or any other corrupt employee was initiated. KNT
