GOVERNMENT MUST CHECK THE VERACITY OF COACHING TRADE

The students these days have been lured to hundreds of coaching centers spread across Kashmir valley, where most of the teachers are from different government departments especially the educational institutions. Hundreds of boys and girls are seen rushing to these institutions early during chilling mornings in the hope getting the “Gyaan” as to how they can get selected for MBBS, B.Tech or any other professional courses. Some professionals have now introduced coaching classes for KAS/KPS, IAS/IPS/ICS etc at whoping cost in the shape of fee. Majority of the people can’t afford to get their wards enrolled in these fancy institutions and regret their inability because of poverty. These coaching centers lure the aspirants with catchy commercials/advertisements, which tempts the students as well as their parents to invest huge money on 3-4 month coaching’s. earlier it was only for medical and Engineering, but the traders have now jumped into selling the dreams of making the innocent youth IAS/IPS officers by paying them around Rs.1,50,000/-. The Rs.200 crore trade directly has an impact of exploitation on the pocket and the emotions of the innocent people. The government is always seen sensitive towards the mutton/chicken/bread or vegetables but doesn’t take any call on this exploiter trade. Every day newspapers carry news about collecting of fine from these tiny traders but never bother to take on this exploitation.

Kashmir has been reeling under a demoralizing financial crunch because of the lock downs of 2019 and 2020 and the trading community has mostly been affected, but these traders are openly on the spree of loot, without even having a mercy on the future of this ill fated society. Although, in the given circumstance and situation, where the students are hardly getting opportunity of being taught by teachers in their respective colleges and schools. Otherwise, one can find the same teachers and employee’s working for several hours either in these centers or in home tuition, without minding the Covid-19 SOP’s. The students, especially in 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th classes are forced to enroll these centers not only for getting selected in professional colleges, but even for simply passing the exams, and, it is not in these 2 years only, it has been going on for several years now. During a brief survey, it has been observed that the teachers are not seen passionate in their lecture halls of schools or colleges, as they are in these coaching centers. It has also been observed that in most of the cases these teachers skip their classes and are desperate to reach these education shops. The lack of courage and determination in the education department and the dirtiest methods of corruption has promoted this unethical community to exploit the hope and emotions of the students and the parents too.

The government has to wake up to reach out to its subjects, understand the game plan to exploit general public with its roots in education department. It is not only the issue of minting money unethically, but also the deception being sold to people. Although, there may be some genuine outlets, who honestly impart the education, which is required but most of these centers have changed the narrative of education. The education is not now a noble cause, but a commercial trade and it’s one of the basic reasons of manufacturing the money minting machines, who doesn’t even understand the humanity nor the service to mankind, but only run to earn by hook or the crook.

Government urgently needs to act as the watchdog to determine the performance of different schools/colleges and individual teachers on the bases of output. The teachers community is more engaged in unionism to press for their genuine or the in-genuine demand, but are least bothered about the career of the students, who are enrolled there for the cause of education, which besides traditional studies also means moral education. But the teachers instead of acting as moral boosters demoralize them by presenting themselves as victims of exploitation. The government also needs to regulate these tuition/coaching centers and either set up a regulatory authority or bring them within the ambit of already existing Fee fixation Committee for private schools.
