Heavy snowfall plays spoiler for J&K Bank aspirants, demand re-examination

Srinagar, Jan 03 : A number of aspirants for banking associate job in Jammu and Kashmir bank staged a protest here at Srinagar, seeking re-examination of those candidates who missed their examination due to heavy or moderate snowfall in the morning shift on Sunday. “We could not reach the venue of examination on time due to snowfall as roads were clogged with snow early in the morning” Riyaz ahmad , one among the aspirants from chadoora Budgam said. He said as Kashmir received fresh snowfall, the roads were not cleared early morning, thus consumed their lot of time in reaching Srinagar, where examination is being conducted.
“Authorities should consider rescheduling the examination for those students who couldn’t appear in the examination today” said another aspirant. He said, the authorities of the bank in Kashmir very well understand the unfavorable weather conditions in the middle of the Chilai Kalaan, why should they schedule the exams so early in the morning.
However, an official of the bank on the condition of anonymity told this reporter that the exams are being conducted by IBPS and bank has nothing to do with it, but the unanimous voice raised by those who were not allowed to enter the examination centers as they reached late, was that IBPS officials doesn’t know about our climatic upheavals, so it was to make them understand by the client bank.
Some of those who made to the centers told this newsperson that they also faced difficulties in reaching the venues. “My examination centre was located at Kite Polytechnic Vawoosa Rangreth and reaching there was extremely cumbersome,” said Saima Mushtaq, an aspirant, “As soon I reached near a diversion leading to the venue, there was heavy accumulation of snow on the road and I had to leave my vehicle midway as the slopes were extremely difficult to drive through due to slippery conditions.” Several candidates might have failed to reach the venue even as better arrangements were in place at the venue.”The aspirant said that reaching the venue was problem not the arrangements in place.
When contacted, chairman J&K Bank R.K. Chhibber news agency told that examinations centers are located in district headquarters at Srinagar, Sopore and Budgam district. “Traffic is normal. First session is already over while heating and other facilities (at the venues) are above par,” he said.
