J&K Govt extends ongoing 4G internet ban till 22 January

Srinagar, Jan 8(KB): The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Friday extended the ban on high-speed 4G internet services till 22 January, except in Ganderbal and Udhampur districts. Last month, the administration had extended the ban till 8 January.

An order issued by the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Friday stated that the ban on 4G internet services in the Union Territory (UT) has been extended till January 22, except Udhampur and Ganderbal districts. Earlier, the ban on 4G services was imposed till January 8 by the administration.

Mobile internet services had been suspended in Jammu and Kashmir since August 5, 2019 due to security reasons when the central government had abrogated Article 370 and Article 35A and J-K transitioned from a state into a UT on October 31, 2019.

The ban on high-speed internet services has resulted in hardships among the students, traders, hoteliers, and other sections of society. The ban has completed 523 days, since 5 August 2019.–(Kashmir Bulletin)
