Threatens to Intensify Protests across J&K if Demands not Fulfilled
Srinagar June 23: Jammu Kashmir Employees Joint action Committee (EJAC) on Wednesday staged a strong protest at Press Enclave Srinagar and demanded the regularization of sixty one thousand (61,000) daily wagers working in different departments across Union Territory of Jammu Kashmir.
Led by EJAC president Mohammad Rafique Rather scores of EJAC leaders assembled at Press Enclave Srinagar with play cards in their cards demands regularisation of thousand (61,000) daily wagers working in different departments across Union Territory of Jammu Kashmir and implementation of minimum wages act.
While speaking to media president EJAC Mohammad Rafique Rather said, “61,000 daily wagers, Adhoc, consolidated, lands donors, academic arrangements, contingent paid employees and others are suffering for regularisation and government is not taking this human issue seriously”
Rather added that these hapless and helpless employees have been left to starvation and some of them colleges have lost their life or vital organs in the line of duty.
“They are living in a very miserable condition as they are not paid even their meagre wages” he lamented.
Rafique expressed surprise that such a big chunk of employees who perform their duty round the clock are being ignored and not treated like humans which has put a question mark on the welfare policies of the government adding that miserable plight of these employees should have been the priority of the government which unfortunately is not.
EJAC president Rafique Rather said that they have pinned all the hopes on the LG administration to address the legitimate demands of the daily wagers but he lamented that despite many protests their demands weren’t fulfilled compelling them to come on the roads.
On this occasion Sajad Ahmad Parray President J&K Casual/Daily Wagers Forum who was part of the protest was assured whole hearted support by EJAC president and other leadership till their demands are not fulfilled.
Urging employees to come to the rescue of these poor helpless employees , Rather expressed hope that LG Manoj Sinha and new chief secretary A.K Mehta will take up the genuine, justified and already acceded demands of daily wagers and other daily rated workers with union government for its one time solution to save the future of 61,000 families dependent on these employees.
Other EJAC leaders who were part of the protest demonstration are Shabir Ahmad Langoo, Khursheed Ahmad Bhat, Wajahat Durani, Farooq Ahmad Khan, Nazir Ahmad Khan, Lateef Ahmad Malik, Shabir Ahmad Bhat and others. (CNS)
