Kulgam, Jan 28: In our campaign “war on drugs” in a major success District Police Kulgam arrested Five Drug Peddlers and recovered Poppy Straw like substance weighing 38 Kg, Charas like substance weighing 02 Kg, 13 bottles of Beer, and cash of RS 2,26,450/- from their possession.
Specific Naka was established at Vessu Chowk by kulgam police and two vehicles bearing Registration Nos. JK13E- 2886 (i10 Car) & PB06K-2297 (Truck) were intercepted and officers present were able to recover 2 Kg of Charas, 30 Kg of Poppy Straw like substances along with 13 tins of Beer and cash of Rs. 1, 61,450/- pertains to proceeds of narcotic substances from the possession of persons namely:-
- Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat S/O Ghulam Mohd Bhat R/O Naina Batapora.
- Angez Singh S/O Sham Singh R/O Oochra Ramban.
- Lalchand S/O Darshanlal R/O Shamchurasi Hoshiyarpur.
- Salim Mohd S/O Mehdi Hassan R/O Marelkotla.
All the Drug Peddlers/Suppliers were arrested on spot and both the vehicles used in commission of crime were seized; in this regard Case FIR No. 14/2021 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Qazigund and further investigation into the matter has been taken up. Also searches are going on to arrest the absconded person namely Ghulam Mohd Lone S/O Abdul Aziz Lone R/O Wupzan Bijebhara who is also accused of the instant case.
Another separate Naka was established at Drien Qazigund where officers of District police kulgam present intercepted a person who was found roaming in suspicious manner and going through checking; Poppy Straw like substance weighing 08 Kg and Cash of Rs 65,000/- pertains to proceeds of narcotic substances was recovered from the possession of one person namely Javid Ahmad Bhat S/O Ghulam Mohd Bhat R/O Naina Sangam who was arrested on spot; In this regard Case FIR No. 16/2021 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Qazigund and further investigation is in progress.
It is pertinent to mention that Kulgam police has launched a full fledged war against drug peddlers/drug dealings and will continue its unwavering efforts to eradicate all forms of illegal drugs/social evils within the District. General public of District Kulgam is once again requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling or any other anti social activities in their vicinity; and are requested to inform SHO Qazigund on 7051510665 if whereabouts of the absconded person are known to them.
