People in Langate receive contaminated water, seek DC’s intervention

Kupwara, June 10: Residents of Langate area of North Kashmir’s Handwara town Thursday complained of being supplied contaminated drinking water from past week.

They said they receive filthy water with pungent smell from taps.

“It is not fit for drinking at all and can lead to health problems,” locals told news agency KNT.

They said despite raising the issue with the PHE Department, nothing changed on ground and they still receive contaminated water.

“These days we get water from streams, use it after boiling it at homes,” the locals said and sought intervention of District Development Commissioner Kupwara and Chief Engineer PHE.

The locals alleged that PHE officials posted in Handwara are too ‘arrogant’ to listen to their grievances, let alone redressing them. (KNT)
