Srinagar, Nov 19: After remaining vacant for more than five months, Srinagar Municipal Corporation on Thursday finally notified the schedule to conduct the election for the post of Mayor of the corporation.
As per the notification issued by SMC in this regard, a copy of which lies with news agency the nomination papers for the post of SMC ‘Mayor’ will be available in the working hours in the office of Secretary SMC from November 20 onwards.
The last date for filling the nomination papers is 21 November till 04:00 PM and candidates can withdraw their nomination from the election before 25 November.
The voting will take place on 25th November at 11:00 AM onwards.
Pertinently, the seat was vacant after former Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu was removed as the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) mayor after he lost a no-confidence motion moved against him on June 16 this year.
