Snow Clearance Machines Deputed Across Electoral Wards in Summer Capital by SMC

Srinagar, Jan 23 (GNS): Srinagar Municipal Corporation on Saturday sent seventy-four snow clearance machines to as many electoral wards in the wake of fresh snowfall.

An SMC member in the knowhow of things told GNS that, incumbent Mayor Srinagar Junaid Azim Mattu personally remained present at the site as the vehicles left transport yard of SMC towards intended areas.

The other office bearers accompanying Mayor on the occasion included; Chief Sanitation Officer, Chief Transport Officer, Chief Enforcement Officer, Executive Engineer Mechnical, Chairman Public Health and Sanitation, Enforcement Officer Central, Enforcement Officers and various other Corporators, the member said.

The deputed machine drivers, as per the member, were directed by Mayor to priortise stretches leading to hospitals, religious places, main-roads and other vital destinations in the city.

“He (Mayor) further passed on directions that all the 74 machines will be stationed at wards only so that in case of continuous heavy snowfall the machines will be constantly put to operational mode for swift removal of snow”, he added. (GNS)
