Truck Driver From North Kashmir’s Sopore Dies of Road Accident in Punjab
Sopore June 12: In a tragic accident, hundreds of kilometres away from his home, a 38-year-old truck driver from Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district died in a road accident in Punjab’s Phagwara on Friday night
According to family members of Abdul Hameed Shalla son of Mohammad Ramzan Shalla of Arampora Sopore, a driver by profession was hit by an unknown car at around 11 pm last night when he was crossing the road to buy cigarettes on the roadside, leaving him grievously injured.
Family sources added thar the driver of the car, which hit him, immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
“The driver fled from the hospital due to fear” family said.
Family members of the deceased said that Shalla was returning home with the truck laden with nails from Punjab where he had arrived a couple of days ago.
“His body is expected to reach home this afternoon” the family said.
Family sources also mentioned that a case has been registered at the concerned police station in Phagwara but they feigned ignorance about any arrest. (CNS)
