Unidentified Gunmen Break into J&K Bank in Pattan

Amount of 2 lac 86 thousand looted: Branch Head

Srinagar, Apr 22: (GNS) Unidentified gunmen Thursday afternoon broke into a J&K Bank branch in Sherabad Khore of Pattan in north-Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Reports reaching news agency Global News Service (GNS) said that few persons boarding a car forced their entry into the bank and decamped with an unascertained amount of cash.

Confirming the incident, a senior police official told GNS that at least three gunmen donning PPE kits managed to flee with cash besides a 12 Bore rifle from the bank guard on duty.

The locals present there tried to caught them, however the suspected gunmen fired some shots in the air to create panic before running away from the spot, the official said adding that however the trio have left behind the vehicle.

After the Branch of J&K was looted in Khore Sherebad Pattan, Security Gaurd on duty said that the Robbers were wearing PPE Kits and he tried to suffocate them but failed and in response they snatched his weapon and broken it.

Talking to reporters, he said that the Robbers who were three in number entered into the bank with weapons and fired some shots in air.

“I tried to suffocate them but was failed to do so and in response they broke my weapon and assaulted me”, he added.

He further said that they entered into the cabin of Branch manager and fired two gunshots there.

Branch Head, Tariq Ahmad said that total amount of two lac eight six thousand has been looted by robbers from the bank.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Baramulla, Rayees Bhat confirmed the incident and said that masked man looted cash from a bank in Pattan and also tried to snatch rifle of bank gaurd.

“We are verifying and investigating as to what has actually happened there, he added.

Earlier, Unknown armed robbers looted J&K Bank Branch in Khore Sherebad of Pattan area in North kashmir’s Baramulla District.

while escaping, the Robbers hurriedly took someone else’s car and fled, leaving the car in which they had arrived……
