Srinagar June 16: Overnight gunfight in Wagoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district ended with the killing of local TRF militant on Wednesday morning.
Senior police official told CNS that 50RR joint team of police and CRPF launched the search operation at Wagoora area and started the searches, However he added that as soon as the searching team rushed towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire on them, the fire was retaliated leading to an encounter, which resulted in the killing of local TRF militant identified as Uzair Ashraf Dar.
Sources added that Uzair, a resident of Wandina Melhoora was active since January 02, 2021.
While divulging the details, senior police official told CNS that one pistol along with a magazine and six rounds besides two grenades have been recovered from him.
It is pertinent to mention that encounter had started after a team of police and CRPF was fired upon during a cordon-and-search operation launched in the area amid specific information about the presence of the militants. (CNS)
